The processo furbanization, which correspondstothetransformationof rural spacesintourbanspaces, hasbeenintensifying in the Brazilian and world context. In the particular case of the municipality of Camaçari, itsurbanization process was mainly boosted by the installation of several industries. It is worth highlighting theimplementation of the Petrochemical Pole and the FORD Automobile Industry, in the 1970s and 2001respectively. The school that is inserted in this context needs to remain in constant dialogue with the communitycontributing to the formation of critical citizens of the processes that are constantly changing in the geographicspace. In this context, the satellite images allow the student to have a spatial and temporal view of thesemodifications in a dynamic way, which enables a more meaningful learning process for both students andteachers. The objective of this article is to present an experience held out with students of the 2nd year of theLuís Eduardo Magalhães Model College, located in the district of Centro, in the city of Camaçari. The methodconsisted of five steps: a survey questionnaire with the group chosen to live the experience, an exposition onurbanization and remote sensing, photointerpretation of satellite images, construction of thematic maps andevaluation of the educational dynamics from a second questionnaire. The results obtained with the didacticsequence were satisfactory, introducing the remote sensing in a didactic and scientific way for the studentsinvolved in the process, thus increasing knowledge about urbanization with an innovative tool.
